Counterpoint Music is excited to be hosting Brisbane's only school holiday songwriting workshops for both primary and secondary students! Treat your kid to two days of fun as they learn cool creative skills, build confidence in expressing themselves and uncover the secrets of making the best songs ever!
At the end of the two-day program each student will have all the tools they need to easily write their own catchy and captivating songs, whether it's their first song or their fiftieth!
With both group learning and one-on-one sessions, every student will have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and feedback from a teacher with 25 years of songwriting experience.
What is it?:
A 2-day songwriting intensive that will teach the essential skills of songwriting: lyrics, melody, chords and creativity. Each session focuses on a particular skill, with time provided to work individually and receive one-on-one feedback.
Who is it for?:
Music-loving school students currently in grades 4 to 7 (Junior clinic) or 8 to 12 (Senior clinic) of any musical skill level. Experience with playing an instrument or singing will be beneficial but not essential. Maximum of 10 students per day. Students can be as collaborative or as individual as they prefer.
Cost:
$300 fully catered (snacks and lunch)
$270 BYO lunch (snacks provided)

- The basics of songs and how to start writing great lyrics! Learn about how great songs are built, where to find inspiration for your lyrics and how to turn those lyrics in to emotionally captivating stories.
- Discover the secrets behind memorable melodies! Lean how to craft the perfect tune to go with your lyrics, and how to transform one small melodic idea into a whole song.
- Find the right chords to give your song its emotional heartbeat. From simple progressions to advanced chord theory, learn how to provide the harmonic backing to complement your lyrics and melody.
- As a group, we'll write and record a song! Each student will be given the opportunity to contribute. Who knows what kind of masterpiece we'll create!
