Student song choices for February 2017

3/7/2017

This last month's piano lessons have been incredibly diverse in the song choices of my students. Any that you would like to learn?
  • Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
  • Khe Sanh - Cold Chisel
  • Gymnopedie No. 1 - Erik Satie
  • Lovefool - The Cardigans
  • Fair - Ben Folds Five
  • Into My Arms - Nick Cave
  • I Feel It Coming - The Weeknd
  • Gravity - John Mayer
The best part about a diverse song choice is that it keeps me on my toes! Each one of these songs has been written out to be taught using the Counterpoint Music Academy method. No sheet music and no awful right-hand-melody arrangements. A chord chart and guidance on appropriate inversions and rhythms lets each student build their own arrangement of the song.

I've also been having some great jams with one of my students who is learning all about the 12 bar blues, blues scale and variations. With two pianos side by side, we can both go wherever we feel like as we play.
